What Are Typical Applications for Gas Struts?

Gas struts, also known as gas springs, are used in a wide range of applications where a load is required to be lifted and controlled over a defined distance. Depending on the force within a gas strut and the mounting positions on the application, the gas strut can be designed to give lift assistance when opening and closing an application, or provide instant lift to open the application fully once the lid has been released.

Typical applications for standard Swift & Sure gas struts are:

  • Car boots
  • Machine guards
  • Monitor arms
  • Access panels
  • Hatch covers
  • Engine covers

Where the standard Swift & Sure gas strut is not totally suitable, we produce a range of alternative gas springs that can be used in various other applications.
Some of these are:

  • Backrest and height adjustment of chairs
  • Sunbeds
  • Hospital beds
  • Desk height adjustment
  • Monitor arms

There are many other applications which our gas springs have been fitted to that are not listed above.

We understand how it can be difficult to mount a gas spring successfully on your application, to get that perfect action that impresses not only yourself but also your customers. If you send us a drawing of your application via our Application Enquiry Form, we can help you find the ideal mounting positions.
